PB at Rainton 10k
I got up on Sunday morning, I had to get myself to Thirsk so I could
get picked up to do Rainton 10k which I was looking to do in about 57min. I got
there with 45min to spare so I got changed and did a warm with Martyn Coy been
very bossy for change or should I say made sure I did a warm up. The race then
started and I set of at slow pace as to not go to fast at the start but my
watch was telling me different it said I was running at 8.35min/miles and to
slow down because I was going too fast. I kept a pace of 8.35-9.20min/miles all
the way around apart from going up the hill where I was slightly slower and I
didn’t stop at the water station I ran with my water for a change I found the
off-road bit very slippy in places and running back through the field was just
as hard. I also was dead by about 5 miles and felt like giving up but I didn’t
because Christine was behind me and that is where I wanted her to stay. I beat
a few of the club runners that normally beat me. My first sub 60 min for a 10k
show all my training is paying off.
