The Sessay Swift 6k
Started the week by going to the club on Monday night after been ill
since last Wednesday so I felt fresh as daisy. We did the warm up and some
drills then we got into the session, we did some sprints down to the oak tree a
back to where we started. We finished with some leg exercises. Rest on Tuesday
and Wednesday only did some cycling ready for the club race at Sessay on
Thursday. I got to Sessay, there was 25 T&S running and 66 people in total
so I knew it was going to be a fast pace and a fast race. The race started I
set off a bit too fast so I just slowed the pace to a comfortable pace that I
could manage all the way around this nice flat course. I was hoping to do 30min
but end up doing 33. 35 min which is still a good time only 5min behind Fran
(cackleberry) which I was pleased with. So I enjoyed the race and it was worth
the £6 for the 6k race I would do it again next year. So on Friday I had a rest
from running because I was so stiff from Thursday, I had rest on Saturday as well
just doing some cycling. I went out on Sunday teatime and did a long run now I
took Wendy’s advice of doing 2hrs run or 10 miles which ever came first. So for
the first 5 miles I was doing avg of 10.30 min/miles which took less than a
hour so I knew that I could complete the next 5 miles within the hour even though
the pace was a little slow and wanted to give up from 7.5 miles to 10 miles but
managed to keep going and doing laps around Northallerton town centre I must of
done about 6 laps by the time I had finished the run I was glad to be home but
why was I doubting myself that I couldn’t do 10 miles training
