PB at Darlington 10k
I got to Darlington with 30 min to spare after our slight hiccup with
organising a lift, both me and Paul though the race started at 10.30am we were
both wrong. When I saw the update on facebook saying the race started at 10am,
so I had to try and find out Paul’s number or get a message to him somehow to
come a bit earlier to pick me up with that sorted I can concentrate on having a
good race and doing a good time. It took about 1min to get over the line but
wasn’t really bothered because it was chip time, I set of at a good steady pace
complete the 1st miles in 9 min and thought if I could keep this
pace I would do about 55min. So the first 3 miles I ran at a comfortable pace
and did the first 3 miles in 27min and then 4th mile in 8min. I then started to
slow down and my legs were starting to stiffen up at 4 half miles just before
the water station and I felt like giving up, but didn’t, just couldn’t get my
legs to move faster than a snail. I got to the water station and some water and
tipped the rest over me and that seemed to do the trick and I could run a bit
faster and legs seemed to loosen up not that I had anything left in me to do a
sprint finish and a few people passed me. I was 3min faster and did a new PB
even though the sun was out and it was very warm. My time was 56.50
