Great North Run
I got up a silly o clock on Sunday morning to get the train up to
Newcastle to do the GNR I went up with a few other runners from the club we got
to Newcastle where we walked from the train station to the start, where we saw
the man with a fridge on his back we dropped our bags on the bus and went to
get in the green area where it took us 40min to get across the line I high 5
Elie Simmonds and Mo Farah as we started I got into a comfortable pace of
around about 10.30-11min/ miles pace all the way around the route only stopped
to stretch or go to the toilet I ran the full distance without walking any part
of the race which is an achievement because I have never been able to run long
distances without stopping I enjoyed the run and the atmosphere and all the
cheering from the crowd there was that many people walking in the last mile and
half that it was hard to keep running and to do a sprint finish but I managed
to once I got on to the grass and I was glad to finish because my legs then stiffened
up my time was 2hr28.49 which was 1min slower than a few years ago but there
was another 7000 runners this year but I was still very happy with my time.
Time to go get my medal and t-shirt and go get something to eat from the
prostate cancer tent and my photo taken and chat with a few other runners. It
then took 3 and a half hours to get home by train time for a rest and
shower
