Why this title
you may ask?? The answer is that the Harriers training sessions are getting
harder and the marathon training plan that Paul has done for me is getting
harder it not as easy as I first thought and it’s only going to get harder
Monday club with Sonja
I went down to
the club at Thirsk, we are still training inside for now we did a warm up with
jogging and drills, then 4x4 cardio workout, with running step and single leg
squat we then got into small groups for
a 4x4 muscle workout! Which consisted of running, step up, plank, donkey kick
and hamstring exercises I then did my 5 squats when I got home because Fran
bullied me into doing them.
Tuesday 3 miles Target 33min
Today was a
bad day I had a funeral to go to so when I got back I wasn’t going to bother with a run today, but I then
decided I would but not do what it said on the plan which was 6x15 with 2min
rest I decided to do a 3 mile run just to clear my head I managed to get under
my target time which I was pleased about I did it in 29min
Wednesday Club with Paul
I went down to
Thirsk, we are still inside for the part of the session and then I going
outside with the group of other runners and we run around the school field and
I tried to keep up which is hard. So the first part was taken by Paul which was
the jog around the sports hall to warm up and then we did about 25 minutes of
Plyometric exercises which got every muscle in my body warmed up and trying to
kill us all with the squat at the end. The second part was outside, we did
4x4min with 2 min rest I always wonder why I was so far behind everyone else
still put the same effort in until the penny dropped last week when I should be
running on the inside and not the outside just to keep up with the rest of the
runners, this week I managed to keep up with Claire for the first time in 5
weeks, all this training must be paying off I managed to do an average of 0.45
miles and 8.55min/pace in every 4 min
Thursday Rest
The marathon
training plan said to have a rest from running so that’s what I did I was going
to put my feet up until I got a call into work
Friday 10 min Jog/10 min Walk x 3
Todays session
was 10 min jog followed by a 10 min walk which is harder than it looks I always
set off too fast and forget its only a jog and not a run so it does matter what
pace I do as long as I feel I have done a recovery run
Saturday 8miles target time 1hrs 28min
With only getting 3 and a half hours sleep
because the neighbours were having party until 4 in the morning I got up
feeling tired and had no motivation all day I didn’t feel like going for a run
but I did 8 miles up around Brompton and back home I was hoping to do the same
time or a better time than last week
when I did my 8 miles run on the flat but I was 1 min slower but my training
has been going well so I want a few more min off my time from last week my
average pace been 9.53min/miles I was still happy it was 9 min under my target
time
Sunday 6 x 15min 2min rest
With me doing
the 3 miles on Tuesday I had no option but to do 6 15 min with 2min rest on
Sunday so I started off by running from my flat on the footpath around
Northallerton and Romanby so I did the first set of 15 min which I covered 1.64miles I then slowly
decreased down to 1.51miles by the 6th set of 15 min which just
killed me by the end I just couldn’t keep up the pace from the 1st
to 6th set my pace start I was 9.10min/miles and by the end it was
10.01min/miles I got more of this to come over the next few week I will be glad
when my marathon training is over and I can have a rest
