Looking for an excuse not to do my last long run on Sunday week 15 of the training plan diary

The week started off with the cold that I still had over the weekend. I wasn’t looking forward to my last long run of 12 miles and when it came to Sunday I was looking for any excuse to not go out, even though I  put a message up on Facebook to say I was going I then got a message from my coach via my inbox telling me to for my run .

Monday Harriers

I didn’t go to the running club as Ken was busy and I was still full of cold so I had a nice rest for a change and sat watched TV

Tuesday 5x10 min with 2min rest

I went out on Tuesday night after work just on the footpath around where I live which was very hard. which was to do 5x10min with a 2 min walk which was my rest I did manage to cover a mile in an avg pace of 9.41min/miles to say that I was still feeling tired from my cold, cough and sore throat from the weekend

Wednesday club with Rob

I went to the athletics club at Thirsk on a very cold night, we did the warm up as usual with some back flips and some strides. We then got into the session, we did 4x4 min with 2min rest we started near the tennis court and had to run around the course Rob had set out for us. We then had to see if we could get back to the finish before the 4 min was up, I did try but I was tired and could have gone to sleep instead we then had the committee meeting afterwards

Thursday Rest

The marathon training plan said have a rest so that’s what I did I went up to the allotment instead, I did a bit of digging and putting some plants in

Friday 45min jog

I was still feeling tired I don’t know if that is from work or the bug I had, I only managed a 20 min jog on the footpath around Northallerton could have  gone to bed instead

Saturday 5 miles target time 52min

I don’t know why I found training hard this week but I only managed 4 miles run on Saturday in 42 min just on the footpath around Northallerton I must have still been tired from this bug at least I completed the training session

Sunday 12 miles Target time 2 hrs 12 min

After my telling off from my coach on Sunday afternoon I got out for my run. I started off by doing the first 6 miles of the run around the town centre on the footpath and around Castle Hill and then for a run around by the train station. I then called in at home for a drink of water and set out on the last 6 miles which was very hard just up around where I normally go and do my 3-4 miles for some reason my legs were really suffering on today running. My legs were stiff on Monday glad I was working. I don’t know what I am going to be like on race day in a weeks time and how well I am going to do I am hoping to do it in 5 hrs this year.
