The Wetherby Evening league
The week started off with me going to the club on Monday night where we
did some hill work but not on the normal bridge, where we go when the horse
racing is on Rob decided to do the hill
session at Kilburn Wood. Again Sonja killed us again, we did a warm in the wood
then we did 6 uphill and 6 downhill. It was a warm night and there was about 20
harriers that turned up I was slow going uphill but fast going downhill then it
was a rest on Tuesday. No club on Wednesday as it was the Harrogate evening
league at Wetherby we turned up with plenty of time to spare to go the toilet
and have bit of a warm up. I got talking to Fran and before we knew it they got
on to start line and we ended up at the front for change. We set off and I
couldn’t remember what the course was like I could remember there was some big
hills in it and I was going to try and run up this time which I did and it
surprised me because I normally see a hill and stop so this hill training must
have paid off and I managed to take 3 and a half minutes of time from last year.
The long run on Sunday with
my brother around Thirsk
I got up early on Sunday morning for a change and made it to the train
station. I got to my brother’s place for about 9.10am we had a chat and then
got ready to go out for 10am we jogged down to swimming pool where we started
our run we ran around the evening league course to start off with at a steady
pace with me stopping to take a few photos, we then got back to swimming pool
where my brother thought that was the end and we were going home back to his
well he was sort of right but we went the long way back. We went across the
green over the iron bridge towards Norby over the 7 bridge down the concrete
lane up 3 big hills to finish and then down the back lane back to my brother’s
flat where our legs were both dead I managed a 9.45 miles run and we were both
out for 2 hours
